Mutants and Maps.

I had a nice opportunity this past month to work with the NYC firm Mutant Media, this time on a poster for Aramark's Fuel school lunch program, with art direction, design and photography by Jessica Mehlman and illustrations, hand lettering, and little touches of photoshoppy goodness by, well, me.

What's not to like about drawing a piratey map with platypus? Here's (respectively) the whole shebang, followed by some of the spots...

Me 2. You clearly need to do some more Platy illustrations.

Hey, thanks!

Now that you mention it, it is strange that the platypus doesn't already figure more prominently into my body of work. We do seem somehow made for each other. Hmm...

Will this campaign finally abolish the unholy Chicken Patty? Dethrone the unctuous Taylor Ham Sandwich? And what will become of the suspicious Jamaican Beef Patty, which can be proven neither Jamaican nor bovine in origin? If these "Aramark" people plan on feeding my children platypi, I do hope they know to remove those venomous spurs ...

You know, Jamie, you raise some very, very important questions. Questions that I'd be keen on delving deeper into, were I not being paid by said corporate entity. I do have on good authority that the reconstituted "veal cutlet" of my youth, so pebbly and gray, is in this day and age no longer a key menu item.
